Wisdom From Russia

Yes, back in 1973, when Russian dissidents were trying to imbue democracy into the thought process in Russia.  And from that dark past are echoes we need to hear and follow today:

“They want us to believe there’s no chance of success. But whether or not there’s hope for change is not the question. If you want to be a free person, you don’t stand up for human rights because it will work, but because it is right. We must continue living as decent people.”

and as to why we should not deal with dictators:

“A country that does not respect the rights of its own people will not respect the rights of its neighbors”

Remarkable to be reminded of our historical role and destiny by citizens of a totalitarian dictatorship.  A fuller history is here…:
